About Michelini i Mufatto Motorpsico

While it is customary for the year to be defined by the 12 months, the lives of the Michelini i Mufatto family are delineated by the harvest seasons. This adventurous family of intrepid oenologists traverse the Atlantic Ocean with ease to oversee their projects in Europe, specifically in Bierzo, and in South America, in Argentina and Uruguay. The key to successfully managing numerous projects simultaneously across different countries and terroirs is that no harvest overlaps. With three well-trained teams that comprehend and implement the work philosophy that has made Michelini i Mufatto renowned worldwide, they craft unique wines with a genuine sense of place.

In celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Michelinis in Bierzo, they introduce Michelini i Mufatto Motorpsico. This wine originates in the village of Toral de los Vados, in the province of León (Spain), where old mencía vines, along with small contributions of white grapes, grow at altitude with cool temperatures and humidity on quartz and clay soils. Organic farming is practised to maintain the natural balance of the terroir, and once in the winery, the wine is crafted following the traditional methods of the locals. Fermentation is spontaneous with 20% whole cluster and a short post-fermentation maceration. Finally, the ageing process takes place with 50% in wooden vats and the remaining 50% in stainless steel tanks over 12 months with native yeasts.

With Michelini i Mufatto Motorpsico, this daring family of winemakers not only celebrates a decade of passion and dedication in Bierzo, but also showcases their distinctive hallmark by creating a wine that captures the essence of the place and its history.
