The destination? A vibrant, straightforward Tempranillo, bearing the hallmark of a house with over 150 years of expertise.
 
Bodegas Montecillo is one of the grand dames of Spanish wine. Established in 1870, with a pioneering spirit and a far-reaching vision, it was among the first to embrace French methods and lay the foundations of what we now recognise as modern Rioja. More than a century later, its inquisitive spirit remains undiminished, and with the Singladuras collection, it demonstrates that tradition is not at odds with curiosity.
 
Montecillo Singladuras Ribera del Duero is a red wine crafted from tinta del país (Tempranillo) from Fuentecén (Burgos, Spain), at an altitude of 700 metres, cultivated as bush vines on limestone soils replete with pebbles. The fermentation is meticulously managed to preserve its colour and aromas, and its brief ageing in new American oak barrels (5 months) imparts structure and a touch of sweetness, without overshadowing the fruit.
 
Ideal for uncorking without ceremony, to be enjoyed with tapas, cheeses, or Sunday stews.
