The Chilean winery Montes has been a pioneer in many respects. Among its achievements are milestones such as producing Chile's first premium wine and venturing into vineyard cultivation in the Colchagua region, specifically in Apalta. Today, this area, located in central Chile (less than two hours from Santiago), enjoys significant international acclaim; however, this was not the case two decades ago. Nevertheless, at Bodegas Montes, they discovered the secret by planting their vineyards between the Coastal Range and the ocean, 25 km from the Pacific, where the convergence of cold and warm air creates the ideal conditions for grape ripening, particularly for red varieties. 
 
Montes Alpha Carmenère is cultivated sustainably, always striving to respect the environment and limit the impact of human intervention. As its name suggests, Montes Alpha Carmenère is crafted from Carmenère, a variety originally from France—specifically the Gironde—but with undeniable prominence in these regions across the ocean. The clusters of this variety are harvested and, after processing, are transferred to fermentation tanks. Once fermentation is complete, Montes Alpha Carmenère undergoes 16 months of maturation in French oak barrels.
