About Montes Alpha Syrah

In a winery where energy resonates with the rhythm of the universe, Gregorian chants caress the barrels, and the design adheres to the principles of feng shui, the wine is not merely crafted: it is elevated to the next echelon. It was there, in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, that Montes Alpha, the wine from Bodega Montes that marked a turning point for Chile by opening the doors to the premium category worldwide, was born. Today, this syrah red wine is presented as one of its most sensual and harmonious expressions.
 
Montes is more than a winery: it is an oenological manifesto. Founded with the vision of transcending, its temple in Apalta represents a quantum leap in winemaking. Among fountains that distribute energy and symbolize the sun and moon, wooden paths over flowing water, and a design integrated into the hillside of the mountain range, lies a space that not only respects the environment but also amplifies the positive atmosphere in favour of the wine. There, gravity replaces mechanical pumps, and sacred music accompanies the repose of over 800 barrels, in silence full of intention.
 
Montes Alpha Syrah originates from demanding vineyards, planted on steep slopes in Apalta and flatter terrains in Marchigüe. The granitic soil provides a mosaic of depths, clays, and organic matter that contributes richness and complexity. The syrah variety is complemented by a small percentage of viognier and/or cabernet sauvignon, depending on the vintage, which ferment together to enhance its aromatic character.
 
Following a manual harvest, the wine is crafted with precision: pre-fermentative maceration, selected yeasts, and 12 months of ageing in French oak, half of which is new. A portion remains in concrete tanks, awaiting the moment to become part of the final blend before bottling.
 
The result is a vibrant red, with polished tannins, great structure, and a spicy allure that does not go unnoticed, ideal for those seeking an immersive experience. Straddling the line between mystique and technique, Montes Alpha Syrah embodies the perfect harmony between respect for the land, innovation without artifices, and elegance without pretension.
