About Nicolas Mariotti Bindi Cantina di Torra Rouge

It is said that the niellucciu grape is identical to Tuscany's sangiovese. Introduced to Corsica by the Pisans as early as the 12th century, it has arguably become the island's most renowned wine. Its name derives from the Corsican term niéllu, meaning "black," and each cluster seems to hold centuries of Mediterranean history.

In this context, Nicolas Mariotti Bindi has emerged as one of the island's leading figures. On his Bindi estate, located in northern Corsica, he cultivates his niellucciu vines on clay-limestone slopes, adhering to organic and soil-friendly methods. His work reflects a profound commitment to the terroir. Each vineyard, with varying ages and exposures, contributes a unique facet to the wine, creating a mosaic of flavours that embodies the region's authenticity.

From this dedication arises Cantina di Torra Rouge. The grapes are destemmed and undergo a 48-hour maceration in concrete tanks before a natural fermentation, which maximally respects the expression of the fruit and the terroir. Afterwards, the wine rests for 24 months in the same vats, without fining and with a light filtration before bottling.

Cantina di Torra Rouge is a red wine that conveys depth, structure, and an unmistakable mineral elegance, capable of revealing the very essence of the niellucciu and the Corsican landscape that gave it birth.
