About Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres

There are wines that do not come into existence every year, but only when nature permits. Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres is one such wine.

Born on an almost insurmountable slope, with a gradient exceeding 30%, Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres embodies the most radical and pure expression of tinto fino, confronting both wind and sun in this location. Indeed, Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres originates from a 3.19-hectare vineyard in the DO Ribera del Duero, on limestone soils, with outcrops of calcareous salts that compel the roots to delve deep in search of minerals and tension. Here, each vine struggles for survival, and that energy ultimately manifests in Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres, which displays distinctive depth and tension. Additionally, the proximity of a pine forest, situated at the highest part of the slope, influences and shapes the microclimate of the area.

Considering this ecosystem, one does not need to be particularly astute to understand that this red demands precise, almost artisanal work in the vineyard. Following meticulous monitoring, the harvest of Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres is carried out by hand, using small crates: first, the clusters are selected in the vineyard and then, in the winery, each berry is individually inspected again. Once crushed, the grape must of Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres enters the winery by gravity and is transferred to small wooden vats, where fermentations occur spontaneously. The ageing process continues for 24 months in new French oak barrels of extra-fine grain. In Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres, everything is designed to minimise intervention and let the terroir speak.

The result is a wine with character, powerful, not produced every year. Therefore, do not miss this opportunity. Pago de Carraovejas Cuesta de las Liebres deserves to be uncorked.
