About Parada de Atauta

Parada de Atauta is a red wine crafted by the winery Dominio de Atauta within the DO Ribera del Duero appellation.

This winery, established in 1999, is located in the Valle de Atauta (Soria), one of the easternmost regions of Ribera del Duero. Parada de Atauta is produced entirely from the Tinto Fino grape variety.

The grapes for Parada de Atauta originate from exceptionally old vineyards, over 60 years of age, with some being pre-phylloxera, as the sandy-limestone soil composition prevents the phylloxera pest from surviving. Additionally, the vines are situated at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level. The cultivation of the vines largely adheres to biodynamic farming principles, following natural cycles and aiming to minimise intervention in the vine's development.

In the production of Parada de Atauta, traditional vinification is employed. Following fermentation and maceration, Parada de Atauta undergoes 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels.

Upon tasting, one is greeted with a sweet, flavoursome entry, leading to a round and smooth palate where the flavours developed during its maturation blend harmoniously with a slight bitterness reminiscent of dark chocolate. This red wine is warm and rich in texture, possessing a balsamic and silky character that renders it approachable and smooth, distinguished by its concentration and balance.
2019 Parada de Atauta 2019 is a red wine with an intense aroma of fresh red fruits accompanied by floral (violets) and herbal (thyme and rosemary) nuances. The palate is incredibly silky and elegant. There are succulent flavours of ripe red and black fruits. A meaty and velvety red wine, with a mineral and fresh finish.
2018

Parada de Atauta 2018 is a mature red wine exuding aromas of dark fruit, earthy undertones, and hints of toasted caramel. On the palate, it is sweet, flavorful, and velvety smooth. This wine boasts a lively acidity, silky tannins, and a well-rounded profile. The finish is extended, culminating in a subtle dark chocolate bitterness.
2015 Parada de Atauta 2015 is a concentrated, meaty and fresh red wine. This vintage perfectly reflects the land where it is born, fresh red fruit with elegant toasted notes of its ageing. In the mouth, it is voluminous at first, becoming lighter as it flows along the palate. With a long and fresh finish.
2012 Velvety and luscious, with a delectably fruity palate, it proves to be exceedingly pleasant. Sweet tannins and well-balanced acidity. The finish is exceptionally prolonged and lingering.

Deep garnet red with a medium to high robe.

Robust aromatic intensity, dominated by ripe red and black fruit. Beyond the fruit, delicate spicy and toasted hints emerge, underpinned by a balsamic backdrop.
2010 This is a round and tasty red wine. Lots of fruity flavours make it very appetising. Fine tannins and a good acidity encourage another sip. Very long and persistent. To be enjoyed.

Pretty picota cherry colour with ruby edges and violet reflections. Intense, clean and bright.

High-intensity nose. Ripe red and black fruit stand out with floral notes. Spicy aromas (white pepper) gradually appear, along with lactic notes, fine woods, roasted aromas, touches of undergrowth and light balsamic notes.
2009 This red wine is round and tasty. Lots of red fruit is also found in the mouth, making it tasty and appetising. Fine tannins and a good acidity, encouraging another sip. Very long and persistent. A wine to be enjoyed.

Picota cherry colour with a ruby rim. Intense, clean and bright.

Medium-high intensity aromas of ripe red fruit and floral notes. The aromas gradually give way to aromas of spices, lactic notes, fine woods, roasted notes and light balsamic touches.
