About La Celestina

La Celestina is a monovarietal Tinto Fino red wine, also called Tempranillo, from the D.O. Ribera del Duero made by the Dominio de Atauta winery.

Dominio de Atauta is located in the town of Atauta in Soria. It is a winery that places a great emphasis on viticulture, because it understands that in order to obtain quality wines you have to start by pampering the vineyard.

The vineyards where the grapes for preparing La Celestina come from are between 20 and 30 years old and are located at an altitude of 950 metres. The altitude makes the temperature difference between day and night greater and promotes the development of the plant and helps achieve a balanced ripening. The climate is continental with Mediterranean features, characterised by long, cold winters and short, hot summers.

The grapes for making La Celestina have been fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of between 26 and 28ºC to preserve the expression of the fruit and extract enough compounds to withstand further ageing. Malolactic fermentation takes place in a tank, and lastly the wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels. 25% of the barrels are renewed annually to obtain balsamic and more spicy touches in the final wine.

La Celestina is a fine, elegant, fresh and complex red Crianza from Ribera de Duero.

2020

La Celestina 2020 is a red wine boasting an enticing cherry-red and black hue. On the nose, fresh aromas of stone fruits such as plum and apricot are discernible. As it evolves, balsamic notes and a hint of liquorice emerge. On the palate, it is striking and well-balanced, with a long and savoury finish where ripe fruit becomes more pronounced. The wood imparts seriousness and complexity, promising an excellent evolution in the coming years.                      
2019 La Celestina 2019 is a red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits on the nose accompanied by well-integrated notes of oak, vanilla and toast. The palate has a pleasant volume and silkiness. The fruit is reaffirmed and accompanied by a delicate sweet touch. A red wine with fine tannins that is fresh, aromatic and very pleasant to drink.
2016 La Celestina 2016 is a structured wine that is fresh and intense on the nose. It has aromas of somewhat riper fresh red and black fruit, and notes of balsam and undergrowth. Concentrated and fresh on the palate, it is silky and with a fruity aftertaste.
