About Pesquera Reserva

Pesquera Reserva is a classic wine from Ribera del Duero. One of the great wines. It is made by Bodegas Pesquera, which today is one of the most valued wineries in Spain.
Its founder, Alejandro Fernández, began making wine when he was a boy with his father, from grapes grown in small vineyards by the family. It was in 1972 when he founded his own winery with a small stone press from the sixteenth century, where he got fine and elegant wines that they served in order to gain worldwide recognition.
Pesquera Reserva is a single variety Tinto Fino, the reigning variety in Ribera del Duero. The grapes are produced in vineyards that are grown in poor gravel and sand soils, planted in low trellises in order to absorb the heat that rises from the ground better.
After the destemming of the grape, it ferments at a controlled temperature between 2 and 3 weeks.
Once the fermentation finishes, there are various pressings before the aging in French and American oak barrels which lasts for 24 months.
After the aging, Pesquera Reserva rests for 12 months in the bottle before being released onto the market.
Pesquera Reserva is a wine that can be drunk now, or kept in good conditions for the next 5 years, during which, it will gain complexity and nuances.

2020

Pesquera Reserva 2020 is a red wine that stands out for its elegance and character. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe fruits such as plums and blackberries, accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is silky and luscious, with smooth tannins and a slightly full-bodied texture. Its aging in barrels provides an impressive bouquet and a complexity that makes it truly special. A perfect wine to enjoy on any occasion.

2017

Pesquera Reserva 2017 is an aged red wine with an outstanding nose of forest fruit compote, toasted notes and sweet spicy touches. On the palate it is dry, silky and very elegant. A wine with highly polished tannins, lively acidity and a long finish with mineral hints.
2011 On the palate it is a fine and elegant wine with a good acidity. Marked tannins. Long finish.

Dark red picota colour; clean and bright.

Elegant on the nose. Black berries, currents, toasted notes, vanilla and leather. Lactic notes.
2010 On the palate it is silky with a good structure. Back to forest fruits mixed with some coffee and pleasant mineral nuances. Long finish.

Dark red ripe cherry colour with garnet edges and a high robe wine.

On the nose we encounter forest fruits like blackberries and blackcurrents which become wood, toasted notes, tobacco, liquorice and cocoa.
2009 Broad attack, caressing the palate. This red wine is long, silky, dry, intense and elegant. Lots of very fleshy, tasty fruit appears, full of spices and toasted notes. Perfect acidity, integrated and defined. Elegant and very enjoyable tannins. Long, very persistent finish. A great classic.

Pretty, deep, dark cherry colour, with violet reflections. High robe. Clean and bright. Elegant, tinted tears show on the glass.

Highly intense, aromatic and expressive. Before swirling the glass, woody notes appear that become elegant and creamy once swirled, fusing with seductive roasted notes. Fruity aromas of fleshy, ripe red and black fruit gradually appear. Once opened out, the fruit is joined by a broad set of spicy notes, tobacco, cocoa and intense liquorice nuances.
2008 Very good, intense, wide and embracing attack and a long, tasty and dry intense mid palate with a smooth silky texture. Its meaty notes of stewed fruit become very tasty along with the spices and the toasted aromas, wrapped in a huge creamy smoothness. A wine with a perfect acidity and very nice elegant tannins (for the next year they will still be quite noticeable). Very long and persistent finish with very nice sensations.  A great classic from the region of Ribera del Duero.

Dark and deep cherry colour with violet reflections. A clean and bright wine with a high robe and elegant high-coloured tear.

Intense and elegant aromas. Before swirling the glass, some wooden aromas are noticed which will become more elegant and creamy as the wine opens up. The notes of fruit appear slowly and progressively. Once it opens up, the notes of fruit become very ripe, as sweet as jam, and very expressive. Thew are mixed with a wide range of spices, tobacco, cocoa and creamy oak aromas that felt again along with delicate but noticeable hints of black pepper. In the background, an expressive minerality is noticed.
2007 Smooth and wide attack. When it opens up the notes of ripe fruit and wood emerge at its utmost expression, with predominance of the aromas of fruit. Tasty, silky, warm and long mid palate. Very persistent finish. A very elegant wine, round, to enjoy.

Intense cherry red colour with subtle violet trims. High layer. Bright. Good tear that stains the glass.

Very intense and warm. The notes of fruit compote appear initially with hints of good wood. When the wine opens up the fruit wins power and the notes of minerals, spices and balsamic appear. Very elegant and expressive.
2006 This wine's bouquet is outstanding due to the elegance and abundance of its aromatic nuances. There are whiffs of well-seasoned fruit, rich hints of cocoa and vanilla, and reminiscences of minerals. Dark forest aromas can be detected in the background.

Intense cherry red, still maintains a rim purple. High color charge, shown by the extration of color of his tears.

This wine reveals an attractive ripe cherry colour with lively ruby-coloured glints. Clear aspect.
