About Dario Princic Ribolla Gialla

Ribolla Gialla Princic is a natural, single-variety Ribolla Gialla orange wine produced by the Azienda Agricola Dario Princic, in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.

Dario Princic is a true local pioneer who, along with Stanko Radikon and Josko Gravner, has been one of the supporters of a non-interventionist approach in the vineyard and in the winery. Princic is also one of the leading producers of orange wines, and in his opinion, the skins generate many natural preservatives during the maceration of the must, which reduces the amount of suphites used in bottling.

Princic Ribolla Gialla is made from grapes that come from 60-year-old vines, which grow in clay-calcareous soils and are cultivated using the principles of organic agriculture. The clusters are collected by hand and fermented with their native yeasts. The must remains in contact with the skins and macerates for 35 days in open wooden barrels. The wine is aged for 30 months in French oak barrels. It is not filtered.

It is worth mentioning that Dario Princic ages some of his wines in barrels made with oak from his own estate.

Princic believes that the Ribolla Giallia variety works best with a long maceration process.
