About Raimat Turons de la Pleta

Raimat Turons de la Pleta is made with Chardonnay grapes from a plot located on one of the hills (“turons” in Catalan) of the estate. This vineyard is completely different from the rest of Raimat’s plots and is strongly influenced by the cierzo wind. The vines are about 25 years old and planted in what they call ‘Cervell de gat’, i.e., cemented gravel that forms clusters and is totally impermeable to water and impenetrable to roots. Certified organic agriculture is practiced and the grapes are harvested manually and selectively in 10 kilogram boxes. When the grapes reach the winery, they undergo a cold skin-contact maceration before pressing. The must is naturally clarified at low temperatures and fermented with native yeasts in French oak foudres. The wine is then aged on its lees for 12 months in French oak foudres with no influence from toasted wood to keep the fruit at the centre.

Minimum intervention and maximum expression are the two key factors in the creation of Raimat Turons de la Pleta. A high quality small production that oozes uniqueness.
