About San Cobate

San Cobate is a monovarietal Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) red wine produced by the San Cobate winery under the DO Ribera del Duero in Castile-Leon, Spain.

 

The San Cobate wine comes into being in 36 hectares of the Gumiel del Mercado vineyard located at an altitude ranging from 830 to 910 meters, and where the vines are planted in different orientations and soils. The bunches are vinified conventionally and the resulting wine begins its aging in oak barrels from Burgundy and ends in French and Austrian oak barrels over 15 years old.

 

In the San Cobate winery, wines are made from plots of land which come from one of the most beautiful vineyards in the area, located in the golden triangle of the Ribera del Duero, a unique place where harvest is carried out manually and the entire vineyard is worked in a sustainable way with the utmost respect for the cycles of nature.

 

The estate is classified into four well-differentiated plots where terraces in the style of the Portuguese Douro have been created, which not only endow the landscape with an extraordinary appearance, but also ensure that traditional and unhurried elaborations flourish there, giving rise to wines as surprising as the environment where they come into existence.
