About Sandra Doix MarLa Vi de Paratge Les Salanques Carinyena

Until the 1980s, Priorat was a largely overlooked region. Everything changed with the arrival of the so-called “five magnificent”: René Barbier, Álvaro Palacios, Daphne Glorian, Carles Pastrana, and José Luis Pérez.

Following the boom of 1989, more oenologists and winemakers began to take an interest in this region in southern Catalonia. However, what they brought to light — licorella soils and old vines — had existed for decades, tended by families working with passion, preserving a legacy deeply connected to the land and tradition.

One of these families is that of Sandra Doix. Their family project draws from century-old vineyards and a method of working passed down through generations. Their philosophy is clear: nurture the grape, respect the terroir, and offer wines that express identity and origin.

A comprehensive project that, with the new wine classification of DOQ Priorat, “Els noms de la terra”, Sandra Doix has the opportunity to craft wines from unique and single-varietal vineyards, following in the footsteps of the great European wine regions. Each bottle seeks uniqueness, quality, and limited edition.

Sandra Doix MarLa Vi de Paratge Les Salanques Carinyena is a single-varietal cariñena, sourced from a single 2.5-hectare estate, planted by Sandra's grandfather in 1902. Les Salanques is one of the oldest vineyards in Priorat and Poboleda.

The winemaking process begins with meticulous grape selection, first in the vineyard and then on the sorting table. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks for 28-35 days at a controlled temperature. Afterwards, the wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels, achieving balance, intensity, and character.

Each bottle of MarLa Vi de Paratge Les Salanques reflects the sobriety and resilience of the century-old vines of Priorat. A story that came to light in the 1980s, but existed long before, written in every vine and every cluster from the land of Poboleda.
