About Sandra Doix Popul

The Catalan word pòpul refers to the people, the community, the collective roots that give a place its identity. And if anyone understands her community, it is Sandra Doix from Poboleda, in the Priorat.
Deeply connected to her land, this oenologist and viticulturist at 37 years old embarks on her most personal project. A way of life that seeks to preserve an ancestral heritage and culture, and a unique way of interpreting the terroir of Poboleda and its fruits.

Her project stems from her family legacy. From vineyards planted in 1902, knowledge passed down through generations, and the unwavering support of her parents and husband. For, in truth, Sandra Doix has wine in her veins. She represents the sixth generation of a family devoted to viticulture in the Priorat. And although her path seemed predetermined, she has chosen to progress step by step, without haste, relishing each process and each wine.

With this project, Doix aims to craft wines of the highest quality under the new classification of sites and municipalities recently promoted by the DOQ Priorat, thereby reaffirming the territorial identity of her wines.

Sandra Doix Popul originates from a grand vineyard of five hectares of very old vines. Here, Sandra practices viticulture inherited from her paternal grandfather, based on artisanal, precise, almost surgical work. This approach has preserved the longevity of vines with spectacular architecture in the characteristic slate soils —the llicorella— that define this region in southern Catalonia.

It is a blend of the red varieties garnacha, cariñena, and syrah. The grapes are meticulously selected both in the vineyard and at the winery using a sorting table. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine is aged for 12 months in 225-litre French oak barrels.

A wine that, as its name suggests, always returns to its origins: to the community, the land, and the people who work it. Because in every bottle of Sandra Doix Popul, in some way, the soul of Poboleda beats.
