About Schoenheitz Tokade

Dominique and Henri Schoenheitz met at the Beaune school, amidst oenology classrooms, and the connection was instantaneous. Newly graduated, they shared a dream: to create their own winery. Fearlessly and with determination, they ventured into the unknown as they were the first and only ones to bottle wine on the slopes of Wihr-au-Val, the highest point in Alsace, where the vineyards reach an altitude of 500 metres.

In 1980, they began crafting their first vintages. For them, each harvest was like a blank page: pure potential. The young winemakers, the only independent producers in their village, quickly established their hallmark: exceptional wines derived from sustainable viticulture, cultivating the land with respect and foresight. On their 15 hectares, Dominique and Henri practised ecological methods of alternating pastures and vineyards, minimal chemical intervention, landscape care, and environmentally respectful strategic decisions.

In 2023, the estate was passed to Jean-Philippe Manches, owner of La Grange Cochard in Beaujolais, marking the beginning of a new chapter and the first organic certification for Schoenheitz.

Among their most notable wines is Schoenheitz Tokade, a pinot gris born from granite soils with clay veins, vines aged 10 to 15 years, and aged in oak barrels for 20 months. 

As a result, they present Schoenheitz Tokade, an elegant, profound, and vibrant wine, a reflection of the bold character of those who made it possible.
