With delicate yet profoundly expressive aromas, it unfolds white flowers, stone fruit, and a backdrop of toasted bread and wet stone. On the palate, it presents as vibrant and dry, with a refined texture, gentle tannins, and a mineral profile that caresses the senses. About Alonso & Pedrajo Suañé Blanco Reserva

Suañé Blanco Reserva is a white wine made with the Sauvignon Blanc and Viura (Macabeo) varieties produced in the D.O.Ca. Rioja by the Alonso & Pedrajo winery.

A friendship between two families, Alonso & Pedrajo embarked on this wine project in 2011 in the town of Villalba de Rioja. A unique enclave at the foot of the Obaranes Mountains that offers the diversity of clay-calcareous soils and a marked shift in climates, mainly continental with Atlantic influences. They use minimal intervention in production and all their wines age on their own lees.

The Suañé Blanco Reserva vintage comes from two plots in Rioja. Firstly, the Viura variety, which are over 70 years old and planted at 615 m, and secondly the Sauvignon Blanc variety of young strains sitting at 580 m. They practice responsible viticulture and the harvest is carried out manually.

In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and fermented spontaneously at a controlled temperature. Suañé Blanco Reserva spends 12 months aging on its own lees in French oak barrels. It is decanted, which causes spontaneous clarification and then lightly filtered before being bottled. It is refined in the bottle for 14 months.

Suañé Blanco Reserva is a barrel-aged white wine that, as its name suggests, Suañé, from the French term “soigne”, is delicate and refined.

On the palate, it is subtly full-bodied and creamy, with an enveloping texture that enhances its complexity. Its passage is elegant and persistent, leaving a pleasant aftertaste that invites further enjoyment. This wine reflects the meticulous care in its production and the character of its vintage.
