Terroir Sense Fronteres Negre is a red wine crafted from the garnacha tinta variety by Terroir Sense Fronteres in the D.O. Montsant (Catalonia).
Terroir Sense Fronteres is the personal project of Dominik Huber, a Priorat enthusiast who, since settling there in 1996, has endeavoured to express the terroir and climate of the region in his wines. Terroir Sense Fronteres encompasses four wines that, under the neighbouring D.O. Montsant, allow him greater freedom to implement his winemaking philosophy. These are light wines with great character.
Terroir Sense Fronteres Negre comes from various vineyards located in the Montsant Valley. The vines are aged between 15 and 35 years, planted at an altitude of 300-350 metres above sea level in clay and sandy soils. Sustainable farming practices are employed, with yields limited to 5,000 kilograms per hectare.
At the winery, the grapes for Terroir Sense Fronteres Negre are destemmed and placed in tanks up to the brim. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts and without any mechanical intervention. This slow vinification process typically lasts between 7 and 8 days. Finally, the wine ages for 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
Terroir Sense Fronteres Negre is a fruity wine that, thanks to the absence of wood during ageing, allows the variety and terroir to be expressed in their purest form. A Montsant in the traditional Burgundy style.
