Terroir Sense Fronteres Vèrtebra de la Figuera is a cement-aged red wine made by Terroir Sense Fronteres with the Garnacha Tinta variety in the D.O. Montsant (Catalonia).
Terroir Sense Fronteres is run by Dominik Huber, a lover of Priorat who, after collaborating on different projects in the area, became aware of the magnificent characteristics of a vineyard acquired by chance in the neighbouring D.O. Montsant. This denomination allows him to vinify in a similar way to the ancient traditions of Burgundy, producing light, fresh and very expressive wines.
Terroir Sense Fronteres Vèrtebra de la Figuera comes from a vineyard planted at a height of 700 metres above sea level. These vines are aged between 40 and 80 years old and are planted in red clay soils with layers of gypsum. The vines are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
When they reach the winery, the Terroir Sense Fronteres Vèrtebra de la Figuera grapes are placed in cement tanks without destemming. As they fill up, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts begins without any mechanical processes. The wine is then aged for 6 months in cement tanks.
One of the most celebrated wines of Montsant, Terroir Sense Fronteres Vèrtebra de la Figuera is a delicate single-variety that reveals the full personality of the Garnacha variety and the freshness of the altitude.
