About Tetramythos Roditis Nature

Preconceptions are set ideas deep seated in every person much more than we would think. The most significant detail is that we are often not even aware of having them, and, without realising it, we close doors to new and worthwhile experiences. Taking a look at Roditis for example, this is a variety native to the Peloponnese in Greece, and it is directly linked to the production of Retsina (a white wine made with pine resin) and in people’s minds it is associated with cheap, bland wines. That is why when, in 2004, brothers Aristos and Stathis decided to use this variety at their Tetramythos winery to make their wines, it was not an easy task. It is thanks to the help of winemaker Panagiotis Papagiannopoulos that they managed to break away from prejudices and showcase the wonder of a local grape that grows beautifully at the foot of the mountainous Aigialia.

Tetramythos Roditis Nature is a white wine made with Roditis grapes from 50-year-old vineyards, lying at an altitude of 850 metres above sea level, grown organically and with no chemicals. Once the grapes reach optimum ripeness with high acidity, they are harvested and extensively selected by hand. Then in the winery, the wine is vinified as naturally as possible. The grapes ferment with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and the wine remains on its fine lees for 4 months.

This is how Tetramythos Roditis Nature was born, a white wine that, without using any tricks, demonstrates the greatness of a variety that is unfortunately undervalued. An energetic, fresh and fruity wine that completely changes our opinion on the quality of the Roditis.

2021

Tetramythos Roditis Nature 2021 is a defined white wine with subtle fragrances of white fruit, citrus notes and herbal hints. On the palate it is fresh, juicy and delicious. A medium-bodied wine with marked acidity and a very fruity mid-palate.
