About The Sadie Family Kokerboom

The Sadie Family Kokerboom is a wood-aged biodynamic red wine made by The Sadie Family from Semillon grapes and belonging to the Wine of Origin Swartland appellation in the Coastal Region (South Africa). 
 
Located in the Swartland region, The Sadie Family is a family estate founded in 1999 by Eben Sadie after working in various wine regions around the world. Today, together with his two brothers, the "enfant terrible" of South African viticulture cultivates different varieties on their 43 hectares of vineyards and makes wine with minimum intervention. This isn’t the only project Sadie is involved in, he’s also worked on other initiatives like Sequillo Cellars in South Africa and Terroir al Límit in Priorat (Spain).
 
The Sadie Family Kokerboom comes from a 0.95 hectare vineyard cultivated organically and without the use of systematic products. On the contrary, biodynamic treatments are used to preserve the natural balance of the terroir. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness. 
 
In the winery, The Sadie Family Kokerboom grapes are crushed and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in foudres for 12 months. The wine is bottled unfiltered, unrefined and with minimal sulphites. 
 
With Eben Sadie being one of the most original winemakers in the southern hemisphere, The Sadie Family Kokerboom is a white wine that shows the captivating personality of the terroir. A seductive white wine of radical philosophy. 
 
2019 The Sadie Family Kokerboom 2019 is a white wine profiled with aromas of yellow fruits, citrus, hints of green grass and chamomile. On the palate it’s fresh, herbal and vibrant. It shows a sharp acidity and citrus character with subtle waxy textures.
