About Torremorón Vendimia Seleccionada

The origin of wine cooperatives dates back to the 19th century in Europe, specifically in France, as a response to the challenges faced by small grape and wine producers in a market dominated by large wineries and merchants. By working together, winegrowers could benefit from the economies of scale, share production costs and increase their bargaining power with buyers. As the wine cooperative model proved to be very effective, it spread to other wine regions in Europe and around the world. In 1957 this great corporate movement won the hearts of 57 winegrowers from several villages in the Ribera del Duero area and led to the founding of Torremorón. Since 1990 this winery has been renovated and equipped with the best technology to produce high quality wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir.

One of their flagship wines, Torremorón Vendimia Seleccionada, is a single-variety Tempranillo from vineyards located on the north bank of the Duero River, 800m above sea level. The vines are more than 60 years old on calcareous soils that are cultivated in an integrated manner and harvested when they reach optimum ripeness. In the winery, there is an extensive selection of the best grapes, which are carefully destemmed and crushed to begin a 10-day alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to new French and American oak barrels for 17 months.

The product of a renovated Ribera del Duero winery that stands out for its focus on quality and tradition, Torremorón Vendimia Seleccionada offers a tasting experience with notes of ripe fruit, spices, soft tannins and a balanced structure. A wine that reflects the passion and commitment of the winegrowers and winemakers who are part of this great little project. 


 

2017

Torremorón Vendimia Seleccionada 2017 reveals a deep garnet tone with purple hues. Its clean, fruity aromas are the result of meticulously controlled fermentation and winemaking with high quality grapes harvested at optimum ripeness. On the palate, it showcases impressive power and remarkable persistence.
2015

Torremorón Vendimia Seleccionada 2015 is a richly concentrated red wine, exuding ripe red and black fruit aromas, complemented by toasted undertones and hints of cocoa. On the palate, it is fruit-forward, robust, and intricate. This medium to full-bodied wine boasts a lively acidity, refined tannins, and a lingering, spicy finish.
