With moderate alcohol and abundant tannins, this wine is exceptionally gastronomic and ideal for pairing with robust dishes that balance its structure. About Ultreia Cova de la Raposa

Ultreia Cova de la Raposa is a red wine produced in the DO. Bierzo by Raul Pérez in Valtuille de Abajo, León.

Raúl Pérez has been one of the pioneers of the region and the Mencía grape. Born in Valtuille, he took over the family winery, embarking on a meteoric career in the wine world, becoming a consultant for wineries around the globe.

Ultreia Cova de la Raposa is a wine from a single pre-phylloxera plot planted primarily with Mencía. The soils are sandy-limestone on a south-facing slope.

Ultreia Cova de la Raposa ferments in 500-litre barrels with whole clusters and its own yeasts, left to macerate for 90 days. Afterwards, it is racked and aged for 20 months in French oak barrels.

The exceptional vineyard, the extended maceration with its skins, and its subsequent aging make it a complex and complete red wine. Only 500 bottles of this remarkable single vineyard wine are produced annually.
