Uro is a red wine from D.O. Toro, produced by the winery Hacienda Terra d’Uro.
Hacienda Terra d'Uro is a project by Oscar Garrote, Cristiano Van Zeller and Pipa Ortega, three oenologists with a long history in the world of wine. Here, they are seeking to produce wines with character that reflect the characteristics of the area. Do to this, they have a unique terroir with vineyards of different ages, from 15 to over 140 years old, from the pre-phylloxeric times. They are small plots that form a set of about 7 hectares, with around 900 vines each.
Uro is a red wine made with Tinta de Toro from their own farm, La Coscojosa, a vineyard that is over 90 years old cultivated following the parameters of organic viticulture.
Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard and in the winery. It goes through cold maceration before fermenting in stainless steel deposits. The malolactic fermentation takes place in 500-litre French oak barrels, where it remains for 20 months.
Uro is a mature, powerful and structured wine. On the nose, aromas of ripe black fruit with light smoked and spicy notes stand out. In the mouth, it is intense, broad and with a long and persistent finish.
