What happens when a variety born almost by accident finds a place to take its time? A white wine like this emerges, with a personality that unfolds gradually. Tempranillo Blanco, Rioja Alta, and a vintage that has already had time to gain depth: an unusual combination that deserves a moment of curiosity.
 
Behind this is Bodegas Bilbaínas, one of the historic names in the Barrio de la Estación de Haro (La Rioja). The winery was founded in 1859, when French vintners sought refuge from phylloxera, and since then it has maintained a curious blend of respect for tradition and a forward-looking vision. Its vineyards in Rioja Alta, very close to the winery, are part of that identity, and Viña Pomal is perhaps its most recognisable expression.
 
Viña Pomal Vinos Singulares Tempranillo Blanco Reserva comes from the Viñedo Cores, a dry-farmed plot with Tempranillo Blanco vines over 25 years old. The grapes are handled delicately, fermenting slowly in wooden vats before spending eight months in a combination of new French oak barrels and once-used American oak barrels, followed by further refinement in the bottle. The result is a compelling blend of freshness and maturity: a vibrant and mineral white, yet also broad, silky, and with a depth that reveals itself gradually.
