Vinas Mora Kaamen III 2022 is a wine that exudes character from the very first pour. Its intense cherry-red hue captivates the eye, and upon bringing it to the nose, one distinctly detects black fruits such as blueberries and blackcurrants, complemented by a hint of damp earth and an intriguing saline nuance. On tasting, it reveals a vibrant character, rich in texture due to its coarse tannins, which add a delightful complexity. About Vinas Mora Kaamen III

Vinas Mora has established itself as a benchmark for minimal intervention wines in Croatia, yet its story began with a very clear purpose: to save the winegrowers' cooperative near Split, in Primošten, which was on the brink of closure. The tourism boom and the gradual abandonment of agriculture made investment in viticulture challenging, which raised the alarm for the sommelier and wine distributor in New York, Kreso Petreković, who, alongside Niko Dukan, decided to take action to preserve this precious heritage.

Under the expression "Wines of the sea," the essence of this cooperative is captured, situated among arid limestone rocks, just a few metres above sea level. In this unique terroir, wines are crafted with a vibrant freshness and saline character, capable of competing with the world's finest.

One of its flagship wines is Vinas Mora Kaamen III, made from the babić grape variety, sourced from century-old vines located in mountainous areas with very limited production. The cultivation is organic, and the harvest is done by hand, respecting the terroir to the fullest.

In the winery, after fermentation with the skins for 5 to 6 days, 40% of the wine ages in used oak barrels, while the remainder stays in stainless steel tanks. Before bottling, both components are blended, achieving a unique balance of freshness, minerality, and complexity. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered, unfined, and without added sulphites, preserving the wine's purity to the utmost.

Vinas Mora Kaamen III—whose name means "stone"—is part of a trilogy that perfectly embodies Kreso Petreković's philosophy: honest wines, with minimal intervention, that authentically express the Croatian terroir and tradition.
