About Yoyo KM 31

Yoyo KM31 is a natural red wine made from Grey Grenache that incorporates a little Red Grenache and Cariñena. It is made by the Yo-yo winery located in Banyuls sur Mer, a municipality in the Languedoc-Roussillon area.

Yo-yo is a young winery that bears the nickname given to Laurence Manya-Krief, a former commercial director of the fashion industry who moved into the world of wine when she was 35 years old. It cultivates it 7 hectares of very old Grenache and Cariñenavines, some over a hundred years old, manually, with horse or mule. It has cultivated them organically since 2005. It produces medium strength wines that are easy to drink and with considerable base note.

The vineyards of Grey Grenache for Yoyo KM31 are over 100 years old and are located on terraces with slate soils in Banyuls sur Mer. They are south-facing and are worked with horse or mule. Their yield is very low, only about 8 hectolitres per hectare.

Yoyo KM31 is vinified by vatting the grapes without destemming, performing a carbonic maceration for 2 weeks and fermenting with native yeasts. Once fermented, the wine is aged for 7 to 10 months in used French oak barrels that are 4 years old. It is produced without using sulphite during the whole process.

Yoyo KM31 is a natural red that is calm, deep and complex. The wine is so called because of the 31km that separated her from her beloved, also a vigneron Jean-François Nicq from Les Foulards Rouges.
2017 Yoyo KM31 2017 is a wine with sweet aromas and flavour, and with floral touches. On the palate it is a little light but persistent.
