About Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros

Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros is a barrel-aged white wine made by the Billaud-Simon winery with the Chardonnay variety in the AOC Chablis Grand Cru (Burgundy).

Billaud-Simon is an old, world-renowned family winery that has undergone a comprehensive renovation of the facilities and working processes since Bernard Billaud and his nephew Samuel Billaud took over in the 1980s. Starting with more monitoring of the raw material and winemaking with minimal use of wood, they create pure and elegant wines with maximum expression of the terroir.

Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros comes from a 12-hectare vineyard lying at the foot of the “Bougros” hillside. These are 40 to 50 year old strains planted on sandy, clay and marl soils. They use traditional agriculture with organic practices and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.

In the winery, the Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros grapes go through an pneumatic press and the resulting must cold macerates for 5-7 days. It then ferments for 15 to 18 days and is left to rest for 15-18 months in stainless steel tanks with a short time in French oak.

Known as the “Golden Gate of Burgundy”, Chablis produces fresh, aromatic and mineral wines. Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros is a great example of this.

2016 Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 2016 is a creamy white wine with aromas of yellow fruit, floral and herbaceous notes and spicy touches. On the palate it is rich and mellow with a salty finish.
