About Bott Saint-Joseph Blanc

Occasionally, the most captivating stories begin by chance. Julie Bott, hailing from the north of the Rhône Valley, and Graeme Bott, from New Zealand, crossed paths in the quaint village of Ampuis while working for Stéphane Ogier, a legendary producer of Côte-Rôtie. What commenced as a mere coincidence swiftly evolved into a shared passion: a profound love for wine and the surrounding terroir.

In their garage, amidst laughter and bottles, the concept of their own winery was born. Over time, they planted viognier and syrah in the prestigious regions of Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, and Seyssuel, always with a clear objective: to let the schist and granite terroir speak for itself.

Bott Saint-Joseph Blanc epitomises this philosophy. Comprising roussanne and marsanne, this white wine is produced in extremely limited quantities. Each cluster is hand-harvested and meticulously selected in the vineyard. Once in the winery, the whole cluster is pressed, cold-settled, and racked to achieve complete clarification before fermenting in French oak barrels. After 9 months of ageing, the result is a wine with an elegant structure, floral aromas, and the typical minerality of the granite soils of the Rhône.

However, beyond technique, what sets Bott apart is their commitment to preserving and showcasing the essence of the terroir that embraced them. Saint-Joseph Blanc is a window into the Rhône. A celebration of the harmony between tradition, nature, and passion.
