About Bott Condrieu Lieu-Dit L'Aleau

Skilled vintners treat their plots as if they were their own children. They are intimately acquainted with each plot's characteristics, virtues, and weaknesses, knowing precisely when to guide, when to protect, and when to allow them to express themselves. For Graeme and Julie Bott, L’Aleau holds a particularly special place in their hearts, as it is where the entire story of Domaine Bott began.

However, reviving this granitic gem was no simple task. Initially, they became lumberjacks to clear the plot, then masons to rebuild the dry-stone walls of the chaillets—those terraces that had succumbed over time—and finally vintners, planting their first vines. Each step was a revelation; it was at L’Aleau that they realised they could truly dream of becoming vintners in the northern Rhône Valley.

Bott Condrieu Lieu-Dit L’Aleau is the culmination of that passion and dedication. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this 100% viognier precisely reflects the mineral character of the magnificent granitic terroir of Lieu-Dit L’Aleau in Vérin, the historic cradle of viognier. After 9 months of maturation in French oak barrels, the wine reveals elegance, aromatic richness, and the velvety texture that only a viognier born in its natural territory can offer.
