About Bott First Flight Viognier

When it comes to wine, quality invariably triumphs over quantity. Graeme and Julie Bott are unequivocally committed to this principle. Their focus is not on producing vast quantities, but rather on ensuring that each bottle conveys a unique story. Their philosophy is both simple and compelling: less, but executed to perfection.

Julie Bott was raised amidst the vineyards of the northern Rhône Valley, while Graeme arrived from New Zealand with an unbounded passion for fine wines. Their meeting in the picturesque village of Ampuis, while working for the esteemed Stéphane Ogier, marked the beginning of something significant. It wasn't long before they dreamt of establishing their own winery, and thus, amid laughter, plans, and dreams of terroir, they planted viognier and syrah in the legendary soils of Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, and Seyssuel.

From this dream emerged Bott First Flight Viognier, Bott's introductory wine and a true statement of intent. Their vines thrive on granite slopes at over 300 meters altitude, precisely at the confluence of Condrieu and Ampuis, where the terroir imparts a unique intensity and freshness. Each cluster is tenderly cared for, hand-harvested, and vinified with precision, embodying the Bott's obsession with perfection. Aged for 9 months in French oak barrels, this viognier unveils the full mineral and delicate character of the granite soils of Ampuis and Condrieu.
