About David & Nadia Aristargos

David & Nadia Aristargos is an organic barrel-aged white wine produced by David & Nadia Wines in Wine of Origin Swartland (Coastal Region of South Africa) using the white varietals viognier, roussanne, semillon, marsanne, chenin blanc, and clairette.

David & Nadia, a couple both in their personal and professional lives, are part of the new generation of South African winemakers. Their project, initiated in 2010, follows the guidelines of the independent producers of Swartland, a new movement in this area that advocates for organic farming and natural winemaking, and it is gaining significant recognition both domestically and internationally.

David & Nadia Aristargos is the result of white varietals primarily sourced from old vineyards, combined with some younger vines. A total of 14 vineyards spread across the Swartland region with predominantly granitic soils. Organic farming is practiced without the use of chemical products, always respecting the natural balance of the terroir.

Once in the winery, the grapes for David & Nadia Aristargos are whole-cluster pressed and allowed to settle in cold temperatures. The must is then transferred to stainless steel tanks to initiate spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. The semillon variety is kept on its skins for a few days. Finally, the wine is aged in used 330-litre French oak barrels.

David & Nadia Aristargos is a blend born from the devotion this pair of winemakers has for white varietals, crafted with minimal intervention. It offers a complex and well-structured fruity expression.

2022

David & Nadia Aristargos 2022 is a barrel-aged white wine with an alluring aromatic profile. On the nose, it features notes of green apple, pear, and a subtle hint of peach. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced, with well-integrated acidity that accentuates its fruity flavours. Its barrel aging imparts a slight creaminess and an elegant finish. Perfect for those seeking a complex and well-structured white wine.

2017 David & Nadia Aristargos 2017 is a well-defined white wine with a complex nose of tropical fruits, stone fruits and citrus fruits. On the palate it is lively with a balanced texture and concentrated fresh and vibrant fruit. It reveals subtle hints of oak and the finish is saline, long and penetrating.
