About David & Nadia Chenin Blanc

David & Nadia Chenin Blanc is an ecological, barrel-aged white wine made with the Chenin Blanc variety by winemaking couple Davis & Nadia in the South African denomination of Wine of Origin Swartland (Coastal Region).

The David & Nadia partnership is part of the new generation of winemakers that is taking a new and modern approach to South African wines. Members of the Swartland independent producers group, a winemaking initiative that promotes organic farming and natural winemaking, they released their first wine in 2010. With their pure, fresh and natural wines, they have managed to put this Western Cape region on the radar of gurus and wine experts.

David & Nadia Chenin Blanc comes from vines lying on a small hill that is rich in shale. These are strains planted in 1985 and cultivated using organic and ecological practices, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or systematic chemicals. The harvest takes place early to avoid over-ripening through the high temperatures in the area.

In the winery, the David & Nadia Chenin Blanc grapes are pressed whole and a minimum amount of sulphur is added while they settle cold. Then the must is transferred to stainless steel tanks to begin spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts. Finally, the wine ages in 300-litre French oak barrels.

David & Nadia Chenin Blanc 2017 is a single variety, barrel-aged white where the Chenin Blanc variety can be experienced in all its glory. A flavoursome wine with a low alcohol content and a surprising acidity.

2017 David & Nadia Chenin Blanc 2017 is a well-defined white wine with aromatic notes of stone fruits like peaches and notes of aromatic herbs and dry hay. On the palate it is light and fresh with a very pleasant acidity.
