About Domaine Lafage Cadireta

Each wine region has its own unique terroir, which contributes to the diversity and uniqueness of the wines produced around the world. Soil type, climate and topography directly influence vine growth and grape development and therefore provide the wine with unique qualities. Someone who has been able to make the most of the different terroirs scattered throughout Roussillon, in the south of France, is Jean-Marc Lafage. A talented independent winegrower, he works with his wife Eliane Lafage on 36 hectares between the sea and the mountains, classified into three very specific terroirs. There are the black marl soils in L'Agly, calcareous soils in Perpignan and, finally, marble and schist soils in Les Aspres. As a result of this variety of climates and terroirs, they offer us a wide range of white, red and rosé wines with a very pleasing value for money.

Within their varied portfolio, Domaine Lafage Cadireta is a white wine made from the Chardonnay variety grown near the Mediterranean coast on deep clay-limestone soils. Vines with an average age of 15 years old and a limited yield of 45 hl/ha. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested and taken straight to the winery. There, they undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration and then macerate on fine lees of the Viognier variety. 20% of the cuvée is fermented in new Burgundy barrels and the rest in stainless steel. Finally, the wine is aged on fine lees for 3 to 6 months in wood.

Considering that the IGP des Côtes Catalanes, in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region, is an denomination known for its Mediterranean climate and diversity of soils, Domaine Lafage Cadireta is the expression of the house style. Freshness, intensity and roundness at a very tempting price.

 

2024 Domaine Lafage Cadireta 2024 is a white wine that invites you to savour its freshness and elegance. On the nose, it dazzles with apricot and exotic fruit notes, reminiscent of a radiant summer's day. On the palate, it reveals a well-balanced structure where its roundness is perfectly complemented by a vibrant acidity. The subtle hints of brioche add a delightful dimension, making each sip memorable. The 2024 vintage has been particularly favourable, allowing the grapes to express their full character. Domaine Lafage Cadireta 2022 is an aromatic white wine with intense notes of ripe fruit accompanied by spicy touches and hints of citrus. On the palate it is broad, fresh and well structured. A smooth wine with lively acidity and a pleasant mid-palate over a subtle background of vanilla and fruit.
