About Frontonio La Cerqueta

Frontonio La Cerqueta is a single-varietal red wine made from Garnacha, crafted by Bodegas Frontonio in Aragón, Spain.

Frontonio La Cerqueta is produced with clusters sourced from traditional mountain vineyards cultivated sustainably. The plots are situated at an altitude of 630 metres, featuring soils composed of blue and grey slates with an average slope of 8.5%, where vines over 75 years old thrive.

Upon arrival at the winery, the Garnacha is foot-trodden, with 60% of the clusters left with stems. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, with a maceration period of 47 days in wooden bocoy containers. For optimal extraction, one or two foot punch-downs are applied daily. The resulting wine undergoes 14 months of ageing in foudres.

Frontonio is a winery led by the Spanish Master of Wine Fernando Mora, a wine enthusiast whose passion has driven him to discover and revive those traditional vineyards on the brink of extinction, working in a traditional manner akin to an artisan. He ages his unique wines in a cave and tends to his vines with the utmost respect for the environment. Small productions of exceptional quality, like this Frontonio La Cerqueta, are worth discovering and savouring.
