About Emilio Moro El Zarzal

For over half a century, the Moro family has been dedicated to wine. The first was Emilio, who began working the vineyard at the end of the 19th century. He was followed by other Emilios: his son (born in 1932) and his grandson, who in 1987 decided to stop selling bulk wines and founded the winery. Today, after much effort, Emilio Moro has become one of the finest Spanish wineries. Their specialty is red wine, but they do not limit themselves to this type alone. Emilio Moro also excels with whites such as Emilio Moro El Zarzal.

The godello grape from the DO Bierzo will bring this single-varietal wine to life, originating from the slopes of Molinaseca, a village in León where sandy-loam soils abound and Atlantic and Mediterranean climates converge. This temperature contrast, particularly with the day's heat and the night's cold, favours the proper ripening of the grape, achieving the perfect balance between sugar and acidity.

Emilio Moro El Zarzal is harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a consistently low, controlled temperature, ensuring maximum extraction of flavour and aromas. Once the process is complete, Emilio Moro El Zarzal is transferred to French oak wooden vats where it will remain in contact with its lees for several months. This preservation allows the wine to round out and extend its optimal consumption period, without losing its organoleptic potential and quality.

Emilio Moro El Zarzal is notable for achieving greater persistence, respecting the inherent characteristics of the godello variety and avoiding an excessive wood sensation.
