About Feudi di San Gregorio Rubrato
Have you ever considered that wine can be a masterpiece? Not only for its final outcome but also for the meticulous craftsmanship, precision, and passion behind each bottle. As Thomas Edison famously said: “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration”. A phrase that perfectly encapsulates both the creation of an artistic masterpiece and the crafting of a fine wine.
This is precisely the philosophy of Feudi di San Gregorio, a winery located in Irpinia, at the heart of the Campanian Apennines (Italy), where wine is perceived as a creative process, akin to painting or sculpture. An artistic vision that has even led the winery to collaborate with young talents, renowned artists, and cultural figures, fostering a continuous dialogue between art and wine.
Owned and managed by the Capaldo family, the estate spans over 740 acres, divided into more than 800 plots with varying altitudes and orientations. A richly diverse natural environment where vineyards coexist with olive trees, fruit trees, and aromatic plants. This wealth of micro-terroirs allows for the vinification of each plot separately, enhancing the uniqueness of each expression.
One of the finest examples of this philosophy is Feudi di San Gregorio Rubrato, the purest and most accessible interpretation of the aglianico variety, the most emblematic red grape of southern Italy. The grapes are hand-harvested and swiftly transported to the winery to preserve their freshness. Once there, they are meticulously selected, destemmed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine rests for 8 to 10 months on its fine lees, a process that refines its structure and imparts aromatic depth.
Feudi di San Gregorio Rubrato is a vibrant, balanced, and elegant red, reflecting the authentic character of aglianico and the essence of the Irpinia landscape. A true masterpiece born from effort, sensitivity, and passion.
