About Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo Falanghina

Today, there are few wineries like Feudi di San Gregorio, a true oenological giant that has been making wines in Campania, in southern Italy, since 1986. We say Campania, but to be more precise, this winery is currently located in a variety of areas and denominations in Italy, making wines faithful to each terroir, where they capture the character and soul of each place.

It’s clear that Feudi di San Gregorio is going places. Following this philosophy, it is difficult to imagine that this winery wouldn’t dare to venture into the D.O.C. Falanghina del Sannio (considered by some as an umbrella denomination), which includes a large number of whites, rosés and reds. One of those is Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo Falanghina.

Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo Falanghina is made from Falanghina, a white grape that is typical of southern Italy and thrives in volcanic soils mixed with clay and limestone. The influence of the Apennines, where some of the vineyards are planted on the lower slopes, is also definitive, acting as a barrier and moderating temperatures. Thanks to this, the grapes and bunches are able to withstand the high temperatures of the summer (very dry) and the cold winters. Here, between 400 and 700 metres above sea level, Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo Falanghina is carefully cultivated, selecting only the best clusters for production. Stainless steel tanks are key to this process, since this material enhances the variety’s aromas and flavours. This is also where Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo Falanghina is aged for five to six months in contact with the lees (with periodic batonnage and stirring).

And that’s it! Nothing more is needed. Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo Falanghina is now ready to be enjoyed. The D.O.C. Falanghina del Sannio in its purest form.
