About Viridiana

Viridiana is a red wine from the DO Ribera del Duero crafted by the winery Dominio de Atauta. This wine is a single-varietal made from Tempranillo grapes.

The grapes that give rise to Viridiana come from vineyards aged between 20 and 30 years, planted at an altitude close to 900 metres. The soil in which they are cultivated is mixed, with both sandy and clayey characteristics.

The climate that the vines must endure is continental, albeit with Mediterranean influences. Notable are the frequent long and cold winters in contrast to the rather short summers.

Once the harvesting processes are completed and the grapes have been transported to the winery, the initial phase of alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 26°C and 28°C. The must of Viridiana subsequently undergoes malolactic fermentation, again in tanks.

Viridiana, before being bottled and marketed, rests for three months in French oak barrels.

Dominio de Atauta is a winery located in the province of Soria. Founded in the year 2000 and situated at an altitude of nearly 1,000 metres, this enterprise manages over 600 plots from which the grapes for their products are sourced.

2021 Viridiana 2021 is a red wine with aromas of red fruits on the nose, accompanied by sweet spices over a subtle balsamic background and a slight touch of pepper. On the palate it is flavoursome and reaffirms everything from the nose. A sincere wine that is well balanced and easy to drink, a really good wine of this style.
