About La Misión de Menade

La Misión de Menade is a white wine crafted from the verdejo grape variety by the winery Menade, classified as V.T. Castilla y León in Spain.

For the past 25 years, the winery Menade has been in relentless pursuit of pre-phylloxera vineyards, from which the wine La Misión de Menade originates. This wine is produced using clusters from 18 plots situated in various locations across Castilla y León and cultivated with environmental respect.

The harvest is conducted manually, and upon arrival at the winery, the clusters are pressed whole. The must undergoes fermentation with its indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is aged for approximately 10 months, distributed among 500-litre French oak barrels, 5,000 and 10,000-litre tanks, and amphorae of various capacities, some of which are crafted from clay sourced from Menade's estates, a true return to origins.

After maturation, the wine La Misión de Menade rests in the bottle for a minimum of two years before being released to the market.

Bodegas Menade was established in 2005, stemming from a lineage of winemakers dating back to 1820. Currently, the sixth generation is responsible for upholding the family's winemaking legacy, adapting it to modern times while respecting the land, the authenticity of the grape varieties they cultivate, and the privileged environment in which they are located.

2022
La Misión de Menade 2022 is a white wine with moderate aromatic intensity, offering on the nose notes reminiscent of white flowers (honeysuckle, rockrose) accompanied by citrus peels, fennel, and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it is direct yet very savoury, with a fantastic acidity that imparts great freshness. Its unmistakable varietal character is revealed, accompanied by subtle hints of flint. A complex white wine that surprises with its flavour and excellent ageing potential. 
 
2017 La Misión de Menade 2017 is a white wine with notes of ripe white fruits on the nose, accompanied by herbaceous aromas of thyme, bay leaf and fennel, with a smoky and mineral touch. On the palate it is creamy and fresh. A white wine with elegance, personality and a long, flavoursome aftertaste.
