About Soto Y Manrique Las Violetas Garnacha

Las Violetas is a red wine made with Garnacha Tinta by Bodega Soto y Manrique in the D.O. Cebreros.

After 15 years of focusing on wine selling, Jesús María Soto decided to set up his own business, the Bodega Soto and Manrique, with the aim of showcasing the intrinsic properties of the soil in Cebreros (Ávila). He acquired the town’s old cooperative and, together with his daughters and several partners, he started to make mountain wines from vines planted at different altitudes.

The grapes used to make Las Violetas red wine come from vineyards around the Sierra de Gredos. Old strains planted at more than 800 meters above sea level on granite and slate soils, making the Garnacha variety the protagonist of the D.O. Cebreros.

Las Violetas is made with grapes collected manually and cooled in chambers. They ferment at a controlled temperature with slight maceration and extraction. The wine ages in a 10,000-litre foudre for 14 months.

Las Violetas is a red wine from the mountains that showcases the ability of the Garnacha variety to thrive at different altitudes.

Las Violetas 2018 is a supple red wine exuding scents of red fruit, floral undertones, and hints of spice. On the palate, it is robust, profound, and refined. This wine offers invigorating acidity, subtle tannins, and a prolonged, enduring finish.

 
2017 Las Violetas 2017 is a juicy red wine with floral aromas and notes of red fruit. On the palate it is light, subtle and with a good integrated acidity.
