About M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon

Chanel, Dior, Cartier, Hermès… France not only dictates fashion: it defines the art of luxury. Within this same realm of excellence lies M. Chapoutier, a winery that has elevated wine to the same level of refinement as a piece of haute couture. Frequently chosen by Drinks International as "the most admired French brand in the world,” M. Chapoutier is synonymous with elegance, respect for the land, and an unwavering passion for detail. Founded in 1808 in Tain-l’Hermitage, this maison in the Rhône Valley has turned its most legendary vineyard—Hermitage—into an icon of French wine.

The wines of Ermitage (or Hermitage, as they are known internationally) possess a history intertwined with European nobility and culture. From Alexandre Dumas, who mentioned them with delight, to Tsar Nicholas II, who reserved them for his imperial table, these bottles have always been associated with the elite.

Among the most treasured jewels of the house stands Ermitage Le Pavillon, a wine that embodies the essence of the terroir. Originating from a plot of just 4 hectares, with vines averaging 65 years of age, this red is a monument to patience and precision. The manual harvest marks the beginning of a meticulous process: the grapes, fully destemmed, are fermented in concrete tanks, with one or two daily pressings to extract the best from the fruit without aggression. The maceration, lasting 4 to 5 weeks, and the subsequent 20-month ageing in French oak barrels (30% new), give rise to a wine of elegant structure and mineral depth.

Just as a Hermès bag or a Dior dress transcends fashion, an M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon transcends time. It is luxury, history, and nature in perfect harmony.
