About Martín Códax Lías

Martín Codax Lías is a white wine from the D.O Rías Baixas produced by the winery Martín Codax. This is a monovarietal of Albariño.

The winery took the name of a famous troubadour from Galicia, Martín Códax, whose songs are some of the oldest in the entire Galician-Portuguese language.

The grape used to produce Martín Codax Lías originates from Pé Redondo, in the Valle do Salnés, an experimental vineyard, property of the winery.

In the winery, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel containers at a controlled 17ºC.

The oenologists have selected the best finest lees between all the containers found in the winery. These are used for the battonages, which lasts for 2 months.

At the last moment Martín Codax Lías, is aged for 10 months in stainless steel containers. The lees, that remain and provide a roundness and balance to the wine.

2022

Martín Códax Lías 2022 captivates at first glance with its brilliant straw-yellow hue and golden highlights. As you bring it to the nose, aromas reminiscent of juicy pear, fresh apple, and succulent peach emerge, all layered over a delicate hint of breadcrumb that invites indulgence. On the palate, this wine reveals a surprisingly ample character with notable presence. The sensation of ripe fruit lingers, enriched by subtle lactic and bakery notes that unfold with every sip. Elegant and well-balanced, this wine is perfect for those seeking a white that is both fresh and intriguingly complex.
2021
Martín Códax Lías 2021 is a white wine with a delightful aromatic intensity, featuring citrus notes reminiscent of grapefruit, aromas evoking pears and apricots, and aromatic nuances derived from its aging on lees, such as lactic and bakery notes. On the palate, it presents with breadth and silkiness, accompanied by a pleasant acidity that imparts significant freshness. A balsamic and spicy white wine, promising excellent aging potential.
 
2020 Martín Códax Lías 2022 is a white wine of profound aromatic intensity, featuring citrus notes reminiscent of grapefruit, intertwined with apricot aromas and nuances of butter and freshly-baked bread. On the palate, it glides with silkiness and fullness. This white wine boasts flawlessly integrated acidity, robust structure, and a distinctive character, possessing considerable aging potential.
2012 Wide and voluminous. Notes of fruit and cream combined with smoked touches. Good refreshing acidity. Citric undertones. Long and persistent finish.

Straw yellow with golden highlights. Clean and intense.

High intensity, notes of ripened white fruit and undertones of the ageing process.
2011 Broad, bulky attack. Nice feeling on the palate with a good concentration of fruit accompanied by creamy notes and smoky nuances. Very good acidity, refreshing and citrus, which adds depth. This white wine has a long and persistent finish that leaves fruity nuances and hints of bakery goods.
