About Michelini i Mufatto En el Camino

Michelini i Mufatto El Rapolao is a wood-aged red wine made by Michelini i Mufatto with the native Mencía variety in the D.O. Bierzo in Castilla y León (Spain).
 
Winemakers Michelini i Mufatto fell in love with some abandoned vineyards in the province of León, and in 2015 they decided to emigrate from their native Argentina to set up their own family project in Bierzo together with local winemaker Javier González. Using native varieties and minimal intervention, their wines are pure, fresh and a direct reflection of a very special place. 
 
Michelini i Mufatto En el Camino comes from estates in different areas of Bierzo. A total of 0.3 hectares of hundred-year-old vines planted between 200m and 500m on clay and quartz soils. To recover the area, they have used environmentally friendly agriculture with organic and biodynamic treatments. 
 
After a selective manual harvest, Michelini i Mufatto En el Camino is vinified with 50% destemmed grapes and 50% stemmed. First a short post-fermentation maceration is carried out using spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and finally the wine is aged for 10 months in clay jars.
 
Fresh and direct, Michelini i Mufatto En el Camino is the result of love at first sight. As Michelini explains, this wine "represents a place, a climate and a people, but from our point of view, which is biased and influenced by our own experiences.”

Michelini i Mufatto En el Camino 2022 is a red wine renowned for its purity and freshness. On the nose, it reveals aromas with prominent floral and subtly balsamic notes. On the palate, it is juicy, with a moderate alcohol content that makes it exceedingly enjoyable on any occasion. A red wine that captivates with its flavour and elegant simplicity.

On the palate, it is immensely fruity, vibrant, and delicate. This wine showcases a pronounced acidity, earthy tannins, and a prolonged, sophisticated finish.
