Michelini i Mufatto Post-Crucifixión is a wood-aged red wine made by Michelini i Mufatto with the Mencía, Palomino, Merenzao, Brancellao and Godello native varieties in the D.O. Bierzo, in Castilla y León.
After running several winemaking projects in Argentina, Gerardo Michelini and Andrea Mufatto crossed the pond with their children in search of special wine regions. This is how they arrived in the forgotten village of Ozuela, in Ponferrada (Galicia) and started their new family project Michelini i Mufatto with winemaker Javier González from Bierzo. In a short time, this winery began standing out for making flavoursome, fresh, fruity wines that are very easy to drink.
Michelini i Mufatto Post-Crucifixión comes from a pre-phylloxera plot of 0.114 hectares located in Santalla del Bierzo. The plot is planted with different native grape varieties in limestone soils. The vines are cultivated following an environmentally friendly philosophy and with early harvests.
In the winery, the grapes used to make Michelini i Mufatto Post-Crucifixión ferment whole and spontaneously with native yeasts for about 10 months in vats and then the wine ages for 3 more months in 500-litre oak barrels on their third use.
Michelini i Mufatto Post-Crucifixión is a very clear, low alcohol wine with incredible aromas and a very vibrant energy. In other words, pure Bierzo.
