About Montecillo Edición Limitada Blanco

There are wines born of time, and others born of a vision. This is one of them. Montecillo Edición Limitada Blanco is the result of the intuition and sensitivity of Mercedes García, the winemaker at Bodegas Montecillo, who has skillfully given liquid form to a rarely used variety in Rioja: garnacha blanca. A bold gesture that looks to the future while holding onto tradition.
 
Founded in 1870, Bodegas Montecillo is one of the oldest establishments in the DOCa Rioja. With its centuries-old underground cellars and a legacy of craftsmanship passed down through generations, Montecillo epitomizes the balance between respect and innovation. Its commitment to the vineyard, the environment, and meticulous winemaking is reflected in every bottle, echoing a history that is renewed with each vintage.
 
Montecillo Edición Limitada Blanco originates from a single plot of garnacha blanca planted in 2014, in the Barranco del Cora, at an altitude of 590 metres. There, in sandy-textured alluvial soils, the vines breathe the fresh air of the Alhama river valley. The winemaking process is meticulously carried out: skin maceration, gentle pressing, fermentation in raw cement tanks, and a careful ageing on lees for 5 months, followed by a period in new French oak casks (large barrels with a capacity of between 650 and 700 litres), with batonnage every two days for seven months. The result is an elegant white wine, floral and with an enveloping minerality that leaves no one indifferent.
