In bygone days, embarking on a voyage at sea was a true adventure. So many events could unfold on a ship within 24 hours! This daring spirit has inspired bodegas Montecillo to transcend the boundaries of the DOCa Rioja and craft Montecillo Singladuras Rueda.
The origins of this white wine can be traced to the municipality of Navas del Rey, in Madrid, where the winery has identified the ideal vineyards for this wine. Specifically, these are vines planted at an altitude of 748 metres, on granite soils, which bring out the most mineral expression of the verdejo grape. All work, including the harvest, is carried out manually, selecting the finest clusters and berries in the early morning hours.
In the winery, Montecillo Singladura Rueda undergoes a pre-fermentation maceration for two days in tanks with an inert atmosphere. From there, it moves directly to the press, where very gentle pressures are applied until the must is obtained. This first press will be transferred to small stainless steel tanks where Montecillo Singladuras Rueda will ferment. Here, in these vessels, Montecillo Singladuras Rueda undergoes malolactic fermentation and is left to rest for several months on its lees. This period will be extended for a few more months in the bottle, where Montecillo Singladuras Rueda will continue to refine in racks.
Thus, without any festivities or rough seas, Montecillo Singladura Rueda arrives safely at its destination. Try it!
