About Parés Baltà Electio

Electio is a barrel-fermented white wine made by Parés Baltà with the estate’s own Xarel·lo variety in the D.O. Penedès.

Parès Baltà is a family winery dating back to 1790. With five estates in Penedès, all lying between 170 and 750 m above sea level and cultivated with ecological methods, they produce a wide range of cavas and still wines. The winery is currently managed by brothers Josep and Joan Cusiné, and their wives, Marta Casas and María Elena Jiménez, who are both oenologists at the winery. Parés Baltà has also expanded its operation with wineries in Priorat (Gratavinum) and Ribera de Duero (Roman Domain).

Electio comes from a single plot with 74 year-old vines, lying at 325 metres above sea level and with a marked Mediterranean character. They are ecologically certified, using ecological methods like fertilising with a herd of their own sheep and pollinating with bees. Artisan work that culminates in the grapes being selected and collected manually.

In the winery, the Electio grapes undergo a light skin-contact maceration for 4 hours. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermentation takes place over 18 days in new French and Hungarian oak barrels at a controlled temperature of 17ºC. Finally, it rests on its fine lees for 4 months with periodic battonage.

Electio is a single-variety limited production white wine. This is a very elegant microcuveé made from a selection of the best Xarel·los grapes chosen from one of the winery’s exclusive plots in Alt Penedès (Barcelona).

2022

Electio 2022 exhibits a pale yellow hue with greenish highlights, clear and transparent. On the nose, it is distinguished by its notable intensity, with aromas of very ripe pears and apples, complemented by floral notes and a subtle hint of well-integrated toasty nuances. On the palate, it has a smooth and voluminous entry, displaying a creamy texture thanks to the bâtonnage technique. The fruit remains the protagonist, offering a balanced progression and a long finish reminiscent of white fruits.
2016 Electio 2016 is a creamy white wine with fragrant aromas of ripe white fruit, white flowers, mineral and toasted notes and light touches of butter. On the palate it has a broad, unctuous and elegant entrance. It is a fresh, balanced and rounded wine with a pleasant fruity and mineral feel.
2010 Electio 2010 shows a wide and bulky attack and an oily mid palate. It coats the mouth with its nice unctuosity. Round and balanced wine with an excellent citric acidity which provides it with freshness. Long and persistent finish which leaves nice fruity and mineral sensations at retro-olfaction. A very elegant wine from Penedès.

Beautiful pale golden colour with steely edges. Very bright, transparent and clear. Thin and dense tears.

Clean, fragrant and elegant nasal aromas with a medium intensity. Its notes of ripe and juicy white fruit stand out, along with some floral notes (white flowers) perfectly balanced with the light toasted and smoked notes and the hints of butter. Elegant mineral background.
2009 Good, very wide attack, in which this wine coats the mouth with creaminess. The notes of fruit and wood are very well balanced with an excellent acidity that gives freshness to the wine. Good finish with citrus and some mineral sensations. A very elegant and pleasant white wine from Penedès.

Pale yellow colour with light greenish reflections. Clear and transparent wine with elegant and dense tears.

Elegant aromas with a medium intensity. Its notes of ripe white fruit are released along with the fragrant aromas of white flowers on a background of toasted and smoked scents provided by the wood. A subtle citrus and mineral touch is noticed in the background.
2008 In the mouth it is soft, creamy and with good volume as a result of the battonage. Long and pleasant finish.
