About Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra

Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra is a red wine made with the Garnacha Tinta variety produced by the Compañía de vinos Telmo Rodríguez in DOP Cebreros (Castilla y León).

Compañía de vinos Telmo Rodríguez is the project of the prestigious winemakers Pablo Eguzkira and Telmo Rodríguez. An initiative to reclaim ancestral viticulture, which seeks to restore forgotten vineyards and find the best areas of the country to produce wines with international potential. The company currently produces wines in Rioja, Valdeorras, Málaga, Cebreros, Toro, Ribera de Duero, Rueda and Alicante.

Planted in slate soil at an altitude above 950 meters in the town of Cebreros (Ávila), the Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra strains are trained in the bush style. They practise traditional organic farming that respects the natural vegetative cycle of the plant and results in a small and concentrated berry. They are harvested by hand and placed in 20 kg boxes.

Once in the winery, the Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra grape ferments with native yeasts in a combination of oak vats, stainless steel tanks and clay amphorae. It is then aged for 24 months in 500- and 600-litre French oak barrels.

Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra is a lush and round red wine that shows all the mineral complexity that slate soils offer.

On the palate, it unfolds a silky texture with refined tannins that evoke slate, offering an expansive and profound character. The slow maturation and balance of the cool year accentuate its integrated acidity and precise maturity. This wine combines power and concentration with an ethereal elegance, achieving a complexity that distinguishes it as an exceptional expression of its terroir.

2013 Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra 2013 is a mature red wine with aromas of berries and herbaceous and mineral notes. The palate is lush, elegant and round. There are notes of fruits and spices with a very good acidity.
