About Gago

Gago is a red wine produced by the Telmo Rodriguez winery in Toro. Telmo Rodriguez is a wine company that produces wines of different Spanish origins (Malaga, Alicante, Rioja, Rueda ...). In all areas where the winery produces wines, they always try to use local varieties.

Gago is a varietal Tinta de Toro from old vines over 40 years old located in the town of Zamora. The vineyards are grown on slopes facing east, at an altitude of 650m on well-drained soils of varying texture and deep gravel.

Its development begins with a manual harvest and transportation of grapes in boxes. In the cellar, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts at a temperature of 28 ° C in closed stainless steel tanks. Maceration with skins is performed for 20 days.

After the fermentation process, Gago spends 14 months in foudres of 1500 litres and 225 litre barrels.

Before bottling, this wine is not filtered or clarified.

2019

Gago 2019 is a red wine that stands out for its balance and slightly robust body. On the nose, it reveals intense notes of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, complemented by a subtle spicy touch. On the palate, it offers a fresh and pure texture, with a marked fruity presence and mineral nuances that highlight its finesse. The barrel aging imparts a firm structure and a concentrated finish, clearly defining its unique personality.
2017

Gago 2017 is a full-bodied red wine. On the nose, it is pure and invigorating, boasting an intense fruitiness complemented by mineral undertones. The palate experiences a refined and graceful profile, concentrated, with well-structured tannins. It is dry with a harmoniously balanced acidity.
2012 Tasty, fruity and toasted. Very balanced. Leaves a pleasant lingering finish.

Dark yet bright garnet colour, ruby rim, medium-high layer.

Aromas of ripe black fruit, toasted, roasted and liquorice flavours with light lactic notes. Mineral presence.
2008 Good wide and intense attack. Long, soft, velvety and very tasty mid palate with notes of ripe fruit nuanced by the aromas of sweet spices. Very good acidity that keeps the wine alive. Its tannins are noticeable but still very nice. Long finish with a good persistence.  An invinting and enjoyable Spanish wine.

Intense, and very dark, almost opaque cherry colour. Dense tears that stain the glass.

Very nice, complex and elegant aromas. Before swirling the glass, elegant and intense toasted notes appear and give way to aromas of ripe fruit which, after swirling the glass, become fleshy. At the same time very creamy hints o spices and cocoa are also released on its intense and amazing mineral background.
2007 Remember the feelings of the nose, medium body, fresh and correct acidity.

Intense cherry and dark.
