About Son Prim Syrah

Life often leads us down unexpected paths. In the case of Jaume Llabrés, although his future seemed clear as he worked as a restorer of antique furniture, amidst the dust of wood and the lack of sunlight and fresh air, Jaume realised that what truly needed restoring were not pieces of furniture, but his family's vineyards. Thus, with a decision that seemed to be written in his DNA, he returned to the family estate of Son Prim, in Sencelles, Mallorca.

Today, he cultivates nearly six hectares of his own vineyard, situated on a unique terrain, with red clay (known as “call vermell” in Mallorca), sand, limestone, and pebbles. This distinctive soil provides the vines with essential nutrients and the capacity to retain water, allowing them to thrive even in the driest summers.

Jaume is committed to a viticulture that respects nature. His philosophy is simple: work with nature, not against it. Therefore, to maintain healthy soil and promote beneficial microbial flora, he avoids the use of mineral fertilisers and only applies organic matter every two or three years.

Son Prim Syrah is one of the winery's most representative wines. A single-varietal syrah that macerates and ferments with indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures, followed by 12 months of ageing in barrels. This wine embodies the essence of Mallorcan terroir. 

With a robust structure and a distinctly Mediterranean aromatic profile, Son Prim Syrah reflects the years of work on the estate and the effort to create a product that speaks of the place and the hands that nurtured it.
